We are delighted to have awarded Holderness Area Rural Transport (H.A.R.T.) a grant totalling £206,900 over three years to fund a new minibus service for Bridlington Dial A Ride.
Why are we funding this project?
H.A.R.T. surveyed their Bridlington passengers to identify any transport problems and identify any difficult places to access in the local town. For example, attending doctors’ appointments, coffee mornings, club meetings and friend meet-ups.
Some passengers stated that using the H.A.R.T. service gave them “independence to do their shopping”, “shop with ease” and they appreciated the help and care received from the staff and drivers.
Bridlington Dial A Ride Project
The funding received will extend their current offer to disabled people in Bridlington and providing access to transport which meets their needs. It will support 24 journeys a day, seven days a week, compared to 14 journeys at present.
Caroline Wegrzyn, H.A.R.T.’s Manager, describes this grant as a fantastic opportunity to purchase in a new low-floor minibus with wheelchair access which will benefit passengers with mobility issues.
Jane Evison, Chair of H.A.R.T. added, “We are constantly looking for ways to meet the needs of more people and are extremely grateful to Motability Foundation for providing funding which will make it possible to reach more people through HART services.”
“This transport can be a lifeline to passengers”
Lisa Jones, our Director of Charitable Operations, said: “We’re delighted to award Holderness Area Rural Transport (H.A.R.T.) with this grant to expand transport services to Bridlington, so that disabled people and people with mobility issues have greater access to travel.
