Richard Cartwright is a Governor of Motability Foundation and a member of its Audit and Risk Committee, contributing his expertise in financial oversight, risk management and assurance to support the Foundation’s mission.
Richard has wide-ranging governance experience across the public, private and third sectors. He is a Non-Executive Director of Places for People Group, one of the UK’s largest placemaking and regeneration organisations. He also works with the National Audit Office, Abri Group and ICAEW in a range of audit, risk, assurance and regulatory roles.
Richard is a Principal Enterprise Fellow at the University of Southampton Business School, where he leads the Help to Grow: Management programme. He has taught financial reporting, audit, corporate governance and ethics, bringing his boardroom experience into his work with students and business leaders.
A Chartered Accountant and Fellow of ICAEW, Richard is a former ICAEW Council Member and former Chair of its Assessment Committee. He continues to support the ICAEW Southern Network and serves on ICAEW’s Regulatory and Conduct Appointments Committee, contributing to the integrity and advancement of the accountancy profession.
Earlier in his career, Richard worked as an external auditor at KPMG and served on the Department for Education’s T Level Panel for Accounting. Passionate about inclusion, he is a founder and former Chair of Team Solent Sharks Wheelchair Rugby Club and was named in the Shaw Trust Disability Power 100 in 2018.
