The Motability Foundation is delighted that His Majesty King Charles III has taken forward the patronage of his late mother, Queen Elizabeth II, and has agreed to become the Motability Foundation’s Chief Patron.
Nigel Fletcher, the Motability Foundation’s CEO said:
“There are 16 million disabled people in the UK, more than one fifth of the population. Yet disabled people often struggle to make journeys due to problems accessing transport. Our vision is to build a future where all disabled people have the transport options to make the journeys they choose.
“Her late Majesty The Queen was a dedicated and active Chief Patron of the Motability Foundation for over 40 years, at times involving her family, including the then Prince Charles, at a variety of events in support of our vision.
“This support and commitment greatly helped to raise awareness of our work.
“We are grateful to His Majesty for continuing this strong and long-held royal support, and look forward to engaging him on our progress in making sure disabled people have the same opportunities to travel and make journeys as non-disabled people.”
