When RAC Motability supported Luis during a trip to Scotland, he took to social media to share his experience, and show how the Motability Scheme delivers in real-life moments.
From breakdown to back on the road
There's been a lot of noise about the changes to the Motability Scheme lately, and a fair amount of worry across the disabled community.
Today, though, I want to talk about the other side of the story. The part that rarely trends.
I was up in Scotland when I picked up a screw in my tyre. The sort of thing that can quietly derail a whole trip, especially as a disabled traveller, where being stranded can bring everything to a halt.
Before long, RAC were out to me, all covered by the Motability Scheme. They repaired the tyre enough to get me safely to a tyre centre the next morning, and the Scheme also covered the cost. No big bill, or hours stuck at the roadside working out how I would get home.
We were delayed, but we still did exactly what we came to Scotland to do.
That is what good support looks like. Real help arrives when you need it. Not a logo, not a glossy promise. Just the thing that turns a screw in a tyre into a small story instead of a big one.
So while the conversation about the scheme's future carries on, and it absolutely should, I did not want the good to go unsaid. For a lot of us, support like this is the difference between a life with options and a life spent stuck.
For now, a simple thank you to RAC and Motability Scheme.
